Jean Joyce met her husband Gordon, at Susquehanna University when he was studying in seminary. His work and studies brought them to various churches in the region. In 1970, they moved to Erie, when Jean’s husband became Pastor of St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
Jean and Linda Kammer founded McKean preschool at Trinity Lutheran Church, which still operates today. Jean belongs to a quilting group at St. Paul’s Lutheran church, called “Patchwork of Love”. This group donates quilts to various organizations, including Westlake Woods. These quilts keep our residents warm on cold winter days, while traveling in our van to outings.

Jean has three grandchildren. Christopher works in Seattle, Washington for a space-flight company. Myriah is a senior The College Wooster, in Ohio. Samuel is a senior in high school.
Jean is known around the community as the unofficial ambassador. She is always welcoming and encouraging to all the residents and is a helpful guide to the newer residents. Jean is a great help to staff, always willing to lend a hand.
